A Promise of Compassion and Care

MBBS (MD), PhD
In 1994, my life changed forever when I lost my father, Krishna Ram Das, a poet, to cancer. His passing inspired a promise that has guided my journey ever since: to serve the underrepresented and vulnerable weaver communities in Sualkuchi, Assam, in his memory.
With this mission, I set up an informal telemedicine clinic at home to provide these artisans—who carry forward our silk heritage—with the healthcare they deserved but often lacked access to.
Over the years, even as my medical duties took me to Delhi and Mongar, Bhutan during 1994-1998, I remained connected to the community. When I moved to Canada in 1999, I continued the practice through my home in Sualkuchi, Assam, India, setting up a modest facility with a fax machine and a PCO unit, and with the unwavering support of my family, we kept the telemedicine service alive.
For over 30 years, our commitment to holistic, accessible healthcare has not wavered. What began as a promise has now grown into a full-fledged mission to address the people of Northeast India.
Our approach combines modern healthcare with compassion and active community participation, understanding that true well-being goes beyond physical treatment. Our telemedicine services have helped stabilize the well-being of this close-knit weaver community and beyond, ensuring their health as they continue to uphold the rich indigenous traditions of the Northeast region.
Looking to the future, we remain dedicated to expanding our reach and improving healthcare for more underserved communities. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has supported this journey—our team, volunteers, and most importantly, the families who trust us with their care.
Together, we are building a future where healthcare is not a privilege, but a right for all.
Thank you for your continued support.
